The Labour Party has announced the successful submission of all officially nominated candidates for the Presidential and National Assembly elections before the close of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal on July 14, 2026.
This statement was issued in reaction to media reports alleging that the party failed to submit the names of its Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates prior to the expiration of the INEC deadline.
“This claim is categorically false, deceptive, and exists solely in the imaginations of those disseminating this misinformation,” declared LP in a release signed by Ken Eluma Asogwa, its National Publicity Secretary.
The Labour Party successfully submitted the names of its Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates on July 10, 2026, four days before to the closure of the INEC nomination window on July 14, 2026. “The process was conducted seamlessly and in full compliance with the Commission’s directives,” LP underlined.
The party voiced apprehension with a media entity publishing a substantial and inaccurate piece without attempting to corroborate the facts with the Labour Party leadership, particularly when the narrative was purportedly derived from an anonymous INEC official.
INEC has revealed its schedule for announcing the final list of legally nominated candidates for the 2027 General Elections. The party claimed, “Upon the Commission’s publication of this list, Nigerians will be able to clearly identify the names of all officially nominated candidates from all political parties, including those of the Labour Party, therefore refuting this baseless lie.
