2527: Ganduje says Atiku and Obi can’t defeat Tinubu because they don’t have enough backing from the north

Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and the rest of the opposition party in Northern Nigeria lack the political clout to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, according to Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, a former APC national chairman.

Ganduje claimed that the North is the decisive zone in presidential elections while speaking at a public gathering in Kano over the weekend.

The two opposing candidates, he said, don’t have the backing of the people to win the area.

Every Nigerian presidential election, he claimed, is a battle for the North. Though we appreciate the efforts of our political opponents, we do not believe that Peter Obi or Atiku Abubakar can muster enough support in this area to unseat President Tinubu in 2027.

Ganduje further stated that Atiku and Obi have failed to establish robust political infrastructure in the North to achieve significant electoral victories, despite the fact that talks regarding a coalition between the opposition continue.

He demanded that the INEC establish more stringent requirements for the registration of political parties, arguing that the commission should only acknowledge groups that have well-developed organisational structures, distinct ideological positions, and a presence across the country.

“By ensuring that only viable political parties participate in elections, stricter registration standards will strengthen our democracy,” he claims.
