A video posted on X on Wednesday by a user named Mobilisingnigerians showcased Sani Yellow refuting allegations of his death during a recent security operation in Zamfara State.

The note accompanying the video indicates that allegations of his death arose from a case of mistaken identity.

The announcement indicated: “UPDATE: Alhaji Sani Yellow released a video refuting the erroneous report of his death that circulated on social media two days ago.” Nonetheless, the visage of the deceased bandit is that of a commander (Yellow) devoted to Gwaska. The name Yellow has gained popularity as both a moniker and a nickname within the realm of banditry.

The clarification follows allegations that a known bandit boss, Kachalla Sani Yellow, was murdered during a security operation in the Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Previous reports said that the bandit, who purportedly orchestrated multiple assaults along the Anka–Bagega Road, was eliminated after a clash with the Maiduguri Special Vigilantes assisting current counter-banditry efforts.

His body was then exhibited to the inhabitants of Anka as evidence of the operation’s effectiveness.

The recent video indicates that the deceased was another bandit commander referred to as “Yellow,” allegedly loyal to a bandit boss named Gwaska, rather than the infamous kingpin, Alhaji Sani Yellow.

Officials have not yet released an official statement revealing the identify of the bandit deceased in the operation.
