Anambra State Police Command has initiated a search for an educator alleged to have beaten a 12-year-old student to death at a school in Adazi-Ani, Anaocha Local Government Area.
The unfortunate event that has incited public anger is currently under investigation as part of the Command’s Safe School Initiative, with the Operations Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Harrison Oruruo, overseeing the team assigned to the matter.
As stated by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the occurrence was communicated to the Neni Police Division on the evening of July 16, 2026.
He stated that law enforcement personnel acted promptly and sent the severely injured student to a medical facility, where a physician subsequently declared him deceased during treatment.
Ikenga revealed that the deceased’s remains had been placed in the hospital mortuary for safekeeping and examination.
He stated that images captured during the initial inquiry displayed evident signs of violence on various areas of the deceased’s body, supporting claims that the kid was brutally beaten.
The matter is currently under thorough investigation, and all requisite measures are being implemented to guarantee that any individuals deemed responsible are held accountable,” the police representative remarked.
He stated that the Command had initiated its Safe School Initiative and instructed a specialised operations team to pursue the escaping instructor purportedly accountable for the lethal attack.
The Command conveyed significant apprehension regarding the tragedy and guaranteed the grieving family and the public that the inquiry would be comprehensive, meticulous, and open.
Ikenga reiterated the Police Command’s dedication to safeguarding pupils throughout the state via the Safe School Initiative.
